Alexa Cervantes
Flute Teaching Artist
Alexa Cervantes is a graduate from the University of Connecticut. There, she earned her degree in Music studying flute under Naomi Senzer and Aimee Toner. Currently, she serves as the Head Woodwind and Brass Instructor, as well as the Assistant Music Teacher, at Speak Music in Stamford. In addition to her work at Speak Music, Alexa teaches students of all ages, ranging from all levels in her private flute studio. Along with teaching, Alexa is an experienced performer. Her performance career has taken her to prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Yale’s Woolsey Hall, and Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, both on flute and piccolo. Outside of the studio, Alexa is an active volunteer flutist with the Young Artists Philharmonic in Greenwich, and regularly performs at events for the Greenwich Alliance’s Tuning In To Music program. Having been a flute student in both of these programs from age 11 to 18, she has returned to assist as an active volunteer in the music community she grew up with. In addition to her teaching and performing, Alexa is also a composer, having written works for woodwinds and full orchestra! Alexa is passionate about creating a positive and personalized learning experience for each student, aiming to foster both confidence and curiosity in every lesson.
