New England Music Camp (NEMC)
PROJECT MUSIC is proud of its ongoing partnership with the prestigious New England Music Camp in Maine, which has long provided young musicians with opportunities to refine their craft, perform in ensembles, and immerse themselves in a nurturing artistic environment. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and the commitment of families, our students continue to access life-changing musical experiences like NEMC each year.
YOLA National Festival
PROJECT MUSIC proudly participated in the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) National Festival, an intensive orchestral training program that gathers talented young musicians from across the country. Guided by world-class faculty, students received high-level instruction, developed leadership skills, and performed in professional-caliber ensembles. This year’s festival culminated in inspiring performances at the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall, under the batons of Jessica Altarriba and Gustavo Dudamel, reinforcing the belief that music can open doors to transformative opportunities.
Baltimore PIMA (Peabody Innovation & Music Academy)
At the Peabody Innovation & Music Academy, offered in partnership with the Peabody Conservatory, our students explored music through a lens of creativity and innovation. This weeklong intensive provided opportunities for technical mastery, improvisation, composition, and leadership development. The experience allowed our young musicians to step outside their comfort zones, discover new genres, and showcase their growth in a culminating concert.
INTEMPO x PROJECT MUSIC Summer Program
Through our “Stronger Together” initiative, PROJECT MUSIC partnered with INTEMPO to provide a four-week summer program for string students in Stamford. This collaboration combined El Sistema-inspired teaching with INTEMPO’s intercultural music approach, offering students expanded resources, mentorship, and a vibrant community experience. With the support of teaching artists and Princeton University interns, students deepened their skills while celebrating the power of collaboration between organizations.
King School Summer Session
Locally, our Winds, Brass, and Percussion students participated in the PROJECT MUSIC Summer Session hosted at King School. This weeklong program offered focused instruction, ensemble performance, and an inspiring environment for students to strengthen their musical foundations and connect with peers.
This summer was a testament to what is possible when talent meets opportunity. PROJECT MUSIC extends heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and partners whose generosity ensures that our students can experience these exceptional programs. Together, we are nurturing not only the next generation of musicians but also confident, creative leaders who will carry the power of music into every part of their lives.
Musical Innovation & Leadership Academy (MILA)
PROJECT MUSIC students participated in the Archipelago Project’s Musical Innovation & Leadership Academy (MILA), a dynamic program in Traverse City, Michigan, that develops young musicians as creators, collaborators, and leaders. Guided by Archipelago Teaching Artists, students led ensemble rehearsals, arranged and composed original music across multiple genres, and designed interactive community performances. The experience emphasized public speaking, audience engagement, and constructive critique, equipping our students with the skills and confidence to lead both on and off the stage.
